Itinerary
We will pick you up at 9.00am from your accommodation in Bukit Lawang and we will start our trek into the jungle of Gunung Leuser National Park. We don’t give a guarantee, but you might encounter wild orangutans, thomas leaf monkeys, gibbons, hornbills, turtles, peacocks or monitor lizards.
First we pass public land with rubber and cacao plantations before we head to the entrance of the National park. We explore the jungle and try to spot orangutans.
During the trek (6-7 hours with breaks) we will tell you about the flora and fauna of the national park and teach you about the plants that we use for traditional medicine. We will then provide you with a local lunch (vegetarian) and continue walking through the jungle.
In the afternoon we will arrive at camp site near the Bohorok river. You are free to hop in the water or just relax. Later on, we will either walks back to Bkt Lawang or go by rafting following the river downstream (+ 10 Euros).
